Reviews:

Publishers Weekly

"Appealing. Day's choice to withhold both victim and perpetrator ratchets up the tension nicely, and her jabs at suburban repression are sharp. This is wicked fun."

Vannessa Cronin, Amazon Editor, An Amazon Best Book of July 2023
"Fans of Lucy Foley should not miss this well-plotted summer read that asks--and entertainingly answers--the question of whether we ever truly know anybody as well as we think we do."
William Landay, bestselling author of ALL THAT IS MINE I CARRY WITH ME and DEFENDING JACOB
"THE BLOCK PARTY is suspenseful, fast-paced and funny all at once. With an intricate plot and memorable characters, it's a trip to the leafy suburbs where all is not as it seems, told by a master storyteller with wit and style."
Elin Hilderbrand, #1 Bestselling author of THE HOTEL NANTUCKET
"There's more than potato salad and Kenny Chesney on the radio at the Alton Road annual block party. Someone gets murdered and as always, in searching for the killer, a slew of other juicy secrets are uncovered. Told from multiple points of view, this novel is like a firecracker on a hot summer night. If you like my novels, you'll love THE BLOCK PARTY."
Heather Gudenkauf, New York Times bestselling author of THE OVERNIGHT GUEST

"With a lightning-fast plot and a fully-realized, complex cast of characters, Jamie Day's THE BLOCK PARTY is a scorching knockout. Day knows how to keep the reader guessing and the pages turning. Treat yourself to this utterly unpredictable thriller."

Murder shakes the wealthy denizens of Meadowbrook, Mass., from their suburban stupor in Day’s appealing debut. The action starts during an exclusive Meadowbrook cul-de-sac’s Memorial Day celebration, where Day introduces the novel’s key players: sexy widow Brooke Bailey, melancholic mom Mandy Kumar, real estate agent Emily Adair, and Emily’s sister, Alex Fox, the event’s organizer, who’s fortified herself with one too many glasses of wine. During the party, someone dies, and the timeline begins to shift between the current Memorial Day and Memorial Days one year earlier and one year later. Potential killers and victims gradually emerge alongside the cul-de-sac’s “waterfall of secrets” as the women’s friendships evolve and they start comparing notes that coalesce, uncomfortably, into an array of potential motives. Chapters alternate narration among the central women, while snarky commenters on the Meadowbrook Online Community Page serve as a Greek Chorus that speculates about the numerous skeletons in the community’s walk-in closets. Day’s choice to withhold both victim and perpetrator ratchets up the tension nicely, and her jabs at suburban repression are sharp. This is wicked fun.
